RCMP have charged a Lloydminster man with second-degree murder following a fatal shooting in the city earlier this week.

According to an Alberta RCMP news release, officers were called to a shooting on 50 Avenue at about 11:09 a.m. on September 21st, where 22-year-old Lloydminster resident Nolan Whitstone was found dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, including a review of video footage, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit identified a suspect and has charged 40-year-old Lloydminster resident Randy Lysohirka with second-degree murder. A warrant has been issued for his arrest and police say he remains at large and is believed to be in possession of a firearm.

RCMP describe Randy Lysohirka as having a light complexion, standing 5’7″ tall and weighing about 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Lloydminster RCMP or Crime Stoppers. Police are warning the public not to approach him.
