SaskTel says their crews worked through the night after a fibre cable was cut and extensively damaged and reports that service has now been largely restored in the impacted areas.
Wireless and internet services remain unavailable in Allan, Aberdeen and parts of Saskatoon.
The Crown telecommunications company says with landline and wireless services restored in many locations, customers in most affected areas are once again able to access 911 using SaskTel services. Customers who remain without service should use another provider’s service, where available, or physically contact emergency services for assistance.
SaskTel says its crews will continue working throughout the day to repair the damaged infrastructure and restore all remaining services as quickly as possible.
Areas initially impacted in the service outage were Prince Albert, eastern Saskatoon as well as several surrounding communities including Allan, Clavet, Colonsay, Drake, Lanigan, Young, Aberdeen and Moon Lake.
