If you happen to see some smoke on the north boundary of Saskatoon, no need to be alarmed.
This afternoon kicks off the Canadian Prairies Prescribed Fire Training Exchange at the Northeast Swale.
A release from Meewasin says objectives of the excersize include restoring native prairie ecosystems, enhancing biodiversity, reducing encroachment, lowering wildfire risk, and improving forage quality for cattle, bison, and other livestock.
The public is advised that smoke may be visible in the area and adjacent communities during these activities.
